Stable States of Cortex in Beta-Gamma EEG

Objective:
+ locate epochs of synchrony and stable spatial patterns

Method:
+ calculate the ratio of the mean variance to the variance of a channel in time epochs
lasting twice the wave length of the peak frequency

Results:
+ high synchrony was found in epochs that were punctuated by episodes of decoherence

Significance:
+ the cognitive content of cortical activity may be correlated with locations in state space
that are often visited by an itinerant chaotic trajectory during thought
